Time Lou "ser" has had to live with losing to Nick AGAIN

Time till the Lou "sers" will have another shoot at the title
 

It all started around 18 years ago on the little field at St. Joseph's Seminary (now occupied by the Archive Building). Nick and his SJB friends (Nick L, Rich S, Joe W, Chris M and others) got together like they always did to play football, except it happened to be on Thanksgiving Morning. This tradition of getting to play football on Thanksgiving morning has been played consecutively for the last 13 years. Who can forget the beating we laid on Chris Jones and friends and then the Mt. Vernon Boys.

2005 had a great turnout as 13 players should up. The teams were split up into 2 teams, the Lou "sers" vs. the Dunwoodie Guido's. Representing the Lou "sers" were Lou B, Mike O, Bill B, Larry C, Dino S and Marc C. Representing the "Guido's" was Nick B, Nick L, Rich S, Chris M, Pat D, Chris C and Jack H.

Similar to 2004, the scoring started quick and early as former SUNY Albany QB Mike O cut up the Guido's defense hitting a wide open Dino for the first TD of the day (2 pt conversion failed). "All day" Mike would hit his WR's right between the numbers, but unfortunately for the Lou "sers" at least 3 potential TD's were dropped. The Guido's started slow, and turned the ball over on downs on the first possession as Nick B overthrew a wide open Rich S who had faked out Lou B on an out and up. It would only take the Lou "sers" 2 plays to go up 12-0 as Mike hit a streaking Larry for a 60 yard bomb. Things weren't going as planned for the Guido's as on their first play of their next possession Nick would throw his only pick of the day as Marc C cut in front of Nick L and ran the ball back to the Guido's 25 yard line. It looked like the Guido's were going to be in for a long day, but on the next play Nick B would intercept a Mike O pass as his receiver Lou B slipped while making his cut.

 Let the comeback begin.

 From there on the game was all Guido's, as they made up for their lack of speed with experience. The Guido's would outscore the Lou "sers" 26-2 the rest of the way, thanks to a total team effort. The offense and defense played almost flawless as the Guido's refused to turnover the Turkey Cup. Everyone had a hand in the Guido's victory. After that interception Nick B led the Guido's down the field with a bunch of short completions, including a key diving catch for a first down by Pat D. and ingenious running plays and hit Nick L on a 5 yard out in the end zone for a TD (PAT failed). Chris C would then intercept a tipped Mike O pass and then catch a 15 yard pass from Nick B to tie the game 12-12 (PAT failed). The Guido's would then take the lead on a long 3rd and 35 Chris M would sack Mike O in the end zone for a 2 pt safety to give the Guido's a 14-12 lead. A couple possessions would go by without and scoring and then after Nick L intercept Mike O's pass (3rd of the day), Chris C on a 3rd and long threw a bomb to Rich S that was going to be intercepted only to see Nick L come out of nowhere to snatch the ball out of the air and take the ball all the way for a TD thanks to a key block from Rich "take one for the team" S. After the failed PAT the score stood at 20-12. The last 2 points to be scored by the Lou "sers" would be a safety on an errant snap to make the game 20-14. The Guido's continued to stop the Lou "Sers", playing like the '85 Bears and got the ball back. Nick B would hit Jack H on a 35 yard pass to the corner of the endzone that was almost picked by Marc C to make the score 26-14 (PAT Failed).
