Time Lou "ser" has had to live with losing to Nick
2004 had
a great turnout as 12 players should up. The teams were split up
into 2 team The scoring started quick and early as former SUNY Albany QB Mike O cut up the 92's defense hitting ? for the first TD of the day. All day Mike would hit his WR's right between the numbers. The 92's started slow as Paul S and Nick both knocked down 2 of Nick B's passes, but the 92s still came right back behind the arm of the "Golden Gun" Nick B who took his down the field hitting ? for the teams first score. From there on the game went back and forth with neither team being able to pull away. The beautiful Thanksgiving day continued and with the score 5-4 in favor of the 96ers the 92's stopped the 96ers on 4th and short (turning point of the game). The 92's went straight for the kill and Nick B hit Rich S on an out and up for a wide open score. The 96ers charged right down the field and Mike O spotted a wide open Lou B, delivered the ball right to his hands but Lou "ser" must of thought he was playing defense as the ball hit his hands and dropped incomplete (Lou did have 22 receptions for 190 yards though). The 92's made another 4th down stand as Chris M knocked down the only pass of the day thrown by Mike (except for the ball Lou dropped) and had the ball tied 5-5. They knew if they scored the game would be over. Nick B was in no rush to end it. He hit 4 consecutive passes (2 to Jack, 1 to Dennis, 1 to Chris) then Nick B called the out and up again to Nick L, who ran a perfect pattern, faked out Paul so bad that he fell and Nick B delivered the pigskin right to him.

It
all started around 18 years ago on the little field at St. Joseph's
Seminary (now occupied by the Archive Building). Nick and his SJB
friends (Nick L, Rich S, Joe W, Chris M and others) got
together like they always did to play football, except it happened
to be on Thanksgiving Morning. This tradition of getting to play
football on Thanksgiving morning has been played consecutively for
the last 13 years. Who can forget the beating we laid on Chris
Jones and friends and then the Mt. Vernon Boys.
